Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that helps keep your nerves and blood cells healthy. As the body does not produce B12 on its own, it must be obtained through diet — primarily from foods such as meat, fish, milk, and eggs.

You may be at risk of a B12 deficiency if you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, do not consume enough B12-rich foods, or have certain health conditions that affect absorption, such as anaemia.

Vitamin B12 injections are a highly effective way to treat deficiency, with results often noticed within 48–72 hours.

Benefits of Vitamin B12 injections include:

  • Increased energy levels

  • Improved sleep patterns

  • Enhanced mood

  • Prevention of anaemia

  • Reduced fatigue

  • Support with depression and anxiety

  • Faster metabolism

  • Healthier hair, skin, and nails

For optimal results, we recommend B12 injections every 6–12 weeks.

  • It can be a little unpleasant, but it is over within less than a minute.

  • Vitamin B12 injections are generally considered to be very safe. They have no major side effects.

However, in very rare cases, some people can experience side effects caused by allergic reactions or sensitivity.

  • It can take up to a week, but normally after a couple of days.

  • The average time between a client needing another is 6 weeks but some people even less, after 4 weeks. However you you feel the benefits have made a big difference we would recommend waiting 12 weeks in between injections.

  • Normally no, apart from an achy muscle at the injection site, which normally does not last for more than an hour or so. If any other adverse side effects are experienced; such as dizziness, sickness or diarrhoea, then it is more than likely that B12 is unsuitable for you, although this is extremely rare. If the symptoms persist, we would refer you to a GP.

  • Generally, it’s difficult to say precisely how long a vitamin B12 shot lasts in the body. However, the duration depends on your body’s reaction to vitamin B12 shots. It also depends on the frequency at which you get B12 shots.
